HacktoberFest is a month-long celebration of open source software, brought to you by DigitalOcean, Intel, and DEV. It's a time to contribute to open source projects, learn new skills, and connect with the open source community.
This year, Hacktoberfest is celebrating its 10th anniversary! In the past 9 years, over 2.5 million people have contributed to open source projects during Hacktoberfest.
To participate in Hacktoberfest, create a pull request (PR) on any open source project on GitHub. Your PR must be merged and accepted by the project maintainers. You can contribute to any project, regardless of your skill level. There are many beginner-friendly projects that you can contribute to.
There are many ways to find projects to contribute to on GitHub. You can browse the trending repositories, search for projects that you're interested in, or ask your friends and colleagues for recommendations.
There are many Hacktoberfest events happening all over the world. You can find a list of events on the Hacktoberfest website.
If you complete 4 PRs during Hacktoberfest, you'll receive a free Hacktoberfest swags, such as stickers and pins, by participating in Hacktoberfest events.
